Functieomschrijving

Weheat is re-engineering the heat pump from the printed circuit board up. We combine high-tech hardware with intelligent software to make heating affordable, simple and CO₂-efficient.

Our Smart Factory in Eindhoven is where hardware, firmware and control logic come together. In Utrecht, our digital and commercial teams translate these technologies into customer-facing value.

Thermal Intelligence is one of Weheat's three core domains. It turns every home into a digital twin, optimizes heating schedules with MPC and runs safety-critical logic on-device. This is the layer that makes Weheat systems stable, efficient and grid-ready at scale.

Your Mission

Every Weheat heat pump generates a stream of data. Your job is to turn that data into intelligence.

You design the algorithms that model buildings, predict heat flows and generate optimal control strategies across thousands of real homes. You build the digital twin, design MPC controllers and ensure safe, constraint-aware operation on edge devices, from mathematical formulation all the way to production code running on embedded hardware.

Your work builds on the foundation of Weheat Intelligence and pushes it further. It directly enables energy savings, grid flexibility and a heating experience that just works, for homeowners who never want to think about it.

The Challenge

  • Digital Twin Modelling
Build RC thermal models (2R2C, 3R3C or similar) that represent each home as a living digital twin, continuously updated from field telemetry.

  • Online Identification and State Estimation
Design estimators (such as Kalman filtering) that learn building parameters from live sensor data and adapt to seasonal shifts, renovations and changing occupancy over time.

About Weheat

Weheat is re-engineering the heat pump from the printed circuit board up. Based in our Smart Factory in Eindhoven and our Commercial & Digital Hub in Utrecht, we combine high-tech hardware with intelligent software to accelerate the energy transition. We operate with a flat structure and a focus on scientific first principles: we value data over opinion and rigorous engineering over quick fixes.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to work on complex, physical problems with direct societal impact (CO2 reduction/Grid Stability).

  • A collaborative environment with a high density of technical talent (MSc/PhD level).

  • Autonomy to define the technical roadmap within your domain.

  • Competitive compensation and the opportunity to grow with a future European market leader.
